Heggem and Wasson Contribute Double-Doubles in 72-58 Win Over Bellevue

BILLINGS, Mont.- Sophomores Isabelle Heggem and Paige Wasson totaled 20+ point double-doubles to propel Rocky Women's Basketball to a home victory over Bellevue University.

The double-doubles marked the sixth of the season for Wasson and the ninth for Heggem as a strong offensive second half led the way for Rocky's sixth conference victory.

How It Happened

It was a slow offensive start for both teams in the opening quarter, as an and-one from Paige Wasson in the final 15 seconds gave Rocky a slim one-point lead entering the second quarter.

Bellevue had the hot hand to open the second quarter, jumping out on a 10-3 run to take a six-point advantage. However, the Bruin momentum was halted immediately, as the Battlin' Bears outscored Bellevue 16-0 over the final seven minutes of the half to give Rocky a ten-point advantage at halftime. Paige Wasson led the offensive charge for the Battlin' Bears with 19 first-half points.

While an 8-3 run early in the second half would trim Bellevue's deficit, Isabelle Heggem would take the reins of the offense, scoring 13 points in the third quarter alone to extend Rocky's lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. Heggem's pace would continue to propel the Battlin' Bears in the fourth quarter, as she added ten more points in just over four minutes to help balloon the Rocky lead to as large as 24, eventually leading to a 14-point win on their home floor.

Notable Statistics

Isabelle Heggem led all scorers with 26 points, along with a game-high 15 rebounds and three blocks in just 25 minutes played. Paige Wasson followed with 24 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, and two blocks. Freshman Lexy Burnham recorded a career-high 10 points and five rebounds.

The Battlin' Bears shot 38.7% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range. The Battlin' Bears dominated the boards, outrebounding the Bruins 44-27, and snagged 16 offensive rebounds in the win. Their 16 offensive rebounds turned into 25 second-chance points.

Dru Zoucha led Bellevue with 14 points on the evening.
