BELLEVUE, Neb. - The Battlin' Bears dropped the opening match of their weekend set to No. 7-ranked Bellevue University in straight sets on Friday night.

How it Happened

The Bruins dominated the opening frame, hitting .524 with 11 kills on 21 attempts and zero attack errors to secure a lopsided first-set win.

Rocky responded well in the second set, grabbing an early 7-4 lead following a block from Kaitlyn Wood and Rylee McMillan. Bellevue answered with five consecutive kills to flip the momentum in their favor. A late kill from Olivia Fauth pulled the Battlin' Bears within three, but the Bruins scored four of the final five points to close out the set and build a 2-0 match lead.

Eight attack errors derailed Rocky's comeback effort in the third set. Bellevue set the tone early with back-to-back service aces to open the frame and controlled the rest of the set to seal the sweep.

Notable Statistics

Sadie Meier paced the Rocky attack with nine kills while hitting .350 to go along with six digs. Rylee McMillan directed the offense with 14 assists, Zoey Albert anchored the defense with a team-high 13 digs, and Dylann Pospisil added two service aces.

Bellevue held a distinct offensive advantage, outhitting Rocky .352 to .061 and finishing with eight service aces.
