Rocky Women’s Soccer Takes Down Undefeated Southern Oregon 1-0

ASHLAND, Ore. - Sophomore Mia Daskalovska fired the game-winning goal from nearly 40 yards out early in the second half to hand Southern Oregon its first loss of the season on Saturday.

Rocky's win leaves the Battlin' Bears as the lone team in the Cascade Collegiate Conference without a loss this season, putting them just one point out of first place in the standings following a weekend sweep on the road in Oregon.

How it Happened
Neither team found the scoreboard in the opening 45 minutes, but the Battlin' Bears applied consistent pressure, generating 11 first-half shot attempts. Despite the push, Rocky couldn't capitalize before the break, sending the match into halftime tied 0-0.

Daskalovska delivered the match's defining moment in the 48th minute. After pressing high to force a takeaway from the Raiders' defense, the sophomore forward caught the Southern Oregon goalkeeper off her line and launched a strike from nearly 40 yards away. The long-range blast settled into the back of the net to give Rocky all the offense it needed, as the Battlin' Bears turned in a second consecutive shutout victory.

Notable Statistics
Mia Daskalovska and Reese Jeffers each recorded five shot attempts in the victory, helping Rocky outshoot Southern Oregon 20–12 overall. In goal, Matea Vernon stopped all four shots she faced to earn her second straight clean sheet and her third in the past four matches.

Southern Oregon goalkeeper Ashlyn Fuss made five saves on six shots on goal in the loss, while Ava Johnson led the Raiders with four shot attempts.

Scoring Summary
48' RMC - Mia Daskalovska
