No. 8 Rocky Men’s Soccer Ties Program Record With Tenth Straight Win

BILLINGS, Mont.- Junior Luke Tooze netted his third brace of the season as No. 8 Rocky Men's Soccer cruised to a 4-1 victory over Bushnell University, tying the program record with its tenth consecutive win.

Despite clinching the CCC Regular Season Title last weekend, the Battlin' Bears showed no complacency, surrendering just one shot attempt in a dominant wire-to-wire performance at home.

How it Happened

Jay Herbert ignited the Rocky offense just five minutes into the match, beating a defender near the edge of the box before laying a pass off to Fynn Sweeting, who buried his CCC-leading 11th goal of the season to put the Battlin' Bears ahead 1-0 early. In the 33rd minute, Tooze capitalized on a misdirected clearance, driving a low 25-yard strike into the back of the net to double the lead heading into halftime. The Rocky defense was stifling throughout the opening 45 minutes, allowing zero shots or corner kicks to the Beacons.

Herbert remained active on the attack in the second half, drawing a foul inside the box to set up a penalty kick in the 60th minute that Luke Tooze converted for his second goal of the night. Just three minutes later, Henry Chalkley drilled a low free kick past the Beacons' keeper to push the lead to 4-0 and seal the victory.

Bushnell generated its lone shot on goal in the 76th minute when a corner kick was deflected into the net, but Rocky held firm through the final whistle to secure the 4-1 victory.

Rocky dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Beacons 16-1 overall while holding a decisive advantage in shots on goal (8-1) and corner kicks (5-1) against a Bushnell side that entered the night sitting second in the CCC standings.

Luke Tooze converted both shots into goals to tie for second in the CCC with nine goals on the season.
