Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Rocky Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to Montana Tech

BUTTE, Mont. - Rocky Volleyball was defeated in three sets in Butte on Friday evening.

How it Happened
Sadie Meier sparked the Battlin' Bears early, spiking two kills to tie the first set at 7-7. However, the Orediggers caught fire on their Senior Night, rattling off a 14-4 run that turned a competitive opening frame into a commanding 25-12 first-set victory for Montana Tech.

Rocky produced another strong start in the second set, taking a 6-3 lead after a service ace by Kristyn Mentink. Montana Tech answered with six consecutive points to ignite a back-and-forth battle, and Amelia Kisiel and Kaitlyn Wood delivered back-to-back kills to tie the frame at 14-14. Much like the first set, Montana Tech orchestrated a late surge that Rocky could not match, closing the frame with a 10-2 rally to take a two-set lead.

In the third set, the Orediggers jumped out to a fast 9-3 advantage. Olivia Fauth and Kisiel each hammered a pair of kills apiece to pull Rocky back into contention, trimming the deficit to just one point. After another closely contested stretch, Montana Tech secured the sweep by scoring seven of the match's final ten points.

Amelia Kisiel, Olivia Fauth, and Sadie Meier led the Battlin' Bears' offense with six kills apiece. Rylee McMillan directed the attack with 17 assists, while Kaitlyn Wood contributed a pair of blocks and a service ace.

As a team, Rocky was held to a .054 hitting percentage, while Montana Tech hit .275 and served eight aces.
