Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

#16 Rocky Women’s Soccer Falls to Corban 2-1

BILLINGS, Mont. - Despite a commanding 26-6 shot advantage, the #16 Battlin' Bears were unable to secure a victory on Senior Day, falling 2-1 to the Corban University Warriors.

The two goals conceded marked the first time the Battlin' Bears' defense has been breached since September 26th, and snapped an eight-game winning streak.

How it Happened
Rocky applied heavy pressure early in the match, unleashing 14 first-half shots and directing seven on frame. However, a resilient Corban defense kept the Battlin' Bears off the board. The Warriors struck first in the 31st minute when a deflected ball trickled through Rocky's backline and found the foot of Haley Miersma, sending Corban into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Corban managed just two shots in the second half, but capitalized on a crucial opportunity in the 72nd minute. Kelli Huskic slipped a low strike past the defense, extending the Warriors' advantage to 2-0. The Battlin' Bears immediately seized the momentum to mount a comeback. Just two minutes later, Ava Gibson delivered a precise cross to Mya Maack, who hammered the ball into the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining. Rocky relentlessly pursued an equalizer, firing four more shots in the final ten minutes, but ultimately could not find the tying goal as Corban held on for the Saturday afternoon upset.

Overall, Rocky controlled the offensive stat sheet with wide margins in total shots (26-6), shots on goal (13-3), and corner kicks (12-3). Charlize Davis paced all players with nine shot attempts, putting five on target.

Scoring Summary
