BILLINGS, Mont.- Following a dominant three-touchdown performance capped by the game-winning score, junior wide receiver Javonte King has been named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
King, a Blackfoot, Idaho product and transfer from Montana State, more than doubled his season receiving total in Rocky's 31-24 victory over Valley City State. He finished the afternoon with nine receptions for 130 yards and three touchdowns. His first score was a highlight-reel play, as he skied over a Viking defensive back to make the catch before breaking away for a 48-yard touchdown to put the Battlin' Bears on the board in the first quarter.
Â
He connected with quarterback Jhett Schwahn in the back corner of the end zone twice, first in the second quarter to extend Rocky's lead to 20-3, and again on the game-winning touchdown with 19 seconds remaining to seal the 31-24 win. King also hauled in a 42-yard reception earlier in the second quarter to set up Rocky's second touchdown, a two-yard rush by Ty Battle.

Entering Saturday's contest, King had yet to top 50 receiving yards in a single game this season or find the end zone. Following Saturday's East Division opener, he now leads the Battlin' Bears in receptions (23), receiving yards (251), and receiving touchdowns (3), while his 48-yard touchdown stands as Rocky's longest reception of the year.
Rocky Football (2-3, 1-0 conf.) enters a bye week before hitting the road the following weekend to take on Dickinson State.
