Rocky Volleyball Drops Back-and-Forth, Four-Set Match Against Bismarck State

BILLINGS, Mont. - All four sets in Friday's match were decided by four points or fewer, as Rocky volleyball fell in four sets to the Mystics.

How it Happened

The Battlin' Bears had a strong offensive effort in the opening set, swinging .239 as a team. After the Mystics opened the match with four straight points, Rocky responded with five straight of its own. A kill from Sydney Nance helped spark a Battlin' Bears run, capped by a kill from fellow middle Kaitlyn Wood to extend Rocky's lead to 17-12. Bismarck State battled back and tied the match at 23, but an Olivia Fauth kill and an attack error by the Mystics sealed a 25-23 first-set win for Rocky.

The final three sets came down to the wire, with both teams within two points of each other past the 20-point mark in each set. In what was otherwise an evenly matched contest, Bismarck State swiped momentum at the end of each of the final three sets, securing a four-set win over the Battlin' Bears.
