#23 Rocky Women’s Basketball Closes the Regular Season with an 82-56 Victory Over Valley City State

MOORHEAD, Minn.- #23 Rocky Women's Basketball brings serious momentum into next week's conference tournament, ending the regular season winners of their final five contests. 

The Battlin' Bears, who averaged 72.4 points per game over the regular season, have averaged 89.25 points per game over their past four games. The Rocky women, ending the regular season with a conference record of 17-5.

How It Happened
Rocky was clicking early, hitting seven of their first eight shots from the field on their way to a 17-5 first quarter advantage. Brenna Linse and Paige Wasson would combine for six points down the stretch of the quarter, giving Rocky a 15-point lead going into the second quarter. 

Paige Wasson would lead the way in the second quarter, scoring eight of Rocky's 15 points in the quarter. A three-pointer from Wasson late in the half would keep the Battlin' Bear lead at 13 heading into the halftime break. 

Angelina Cavanaugh sank a pair of three-pointers early in the third quarter to capitalize on a hot start by Rocky, a 12-5 run that extended Rocky's lead to 20. Paige Wasson continued to light up the scoreboard to close the third quarter, scoring nine points in the final three minutes of the quarter, blowing the Battlin' Bear advantage open to 26. 

Lexy Burnham would enter off the bench and help seal the game for Rocky, scoring ten of her 12 total points in the fourth quarter to give Rocky a win to close out the regular season. 

Notable Statistics
Paige Wasson led the way with a game-high 26 points, along with seven rebounds. Brenna Linse added 16 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while also swatting two blocks defensively. Lexy Burnham added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while Isabelle Heggem recorded another double-double with ten points, ten rebounds, and four blocks. 

The Battlin' Bears shot 50% from the field and 33% from three-point range. Rocky outrebounded the Vikings 39-32, snagging 12 offensive rebounds. 

JayCee Richter led Valley City State with 17 points in the defeat.
