Rocky Golf Rounds Out Regular Season With Strong Performances at the Music City Classic

OLD HICKORY, Tenn.- The Battlin' Bear men finished ninth, while the women tied for 11th amongst a field of 20 total Top-25 Teams at the Music City Classic, led by top 15 finishes from seniors Grace Metcalf and Aidan McDonagh

Men's Results

Aidan McDonagh was the top scorer for the Rocky men, tying for 12th overall with a score of four-under-par 212 (75, 65, 72). The senior tied his collegiate low in the second round, shooting seven-under-par 65, completing the round bogey-free and firing an eagle on hole 18. He finished tied for the fifth-best par-3 scoring average on the tournament, totaling one-under-par overall. 

Kristjan Burkelca (73, 72, 72) and Nathan Piers (72, 72, 73) turned in consistent efforts to tie for 37th overall, as they both totaled a score of one-over-par 217. Sam Norman followed a stroke behind, tied for 46th with a total score of two-over-par 218 (73, 72, 73). Alexander Brester rounded out Rocky's competitors in his spring debut, totaling a score of 13-over-par 229 (77, 76, 76) to tie for 84th overall. 

The Battlin' Bear men finished ninth overall with a team score of even-par 866 (293, 281, 290). Rocky ranked top-ten in par 3 scoring (5th; +8), par 4 scoring (T-8th; +13), and birdies (7th; 49). 

No. 1-ranked Keiser University won the Music City Classic with a team score of 31-under-par 833. 

Women's Results

Grace Metcalf again led the Rocky women, finishing tied for 13th overall with a total score of seven-over-par 223 (72, 76, 75). The senior was strong on par 3s in the tournament, tying for the fifth-best scoring total at one under par, while recording just one double bogey, tied for the fewest in the field. 

Tyla Potgieter tied for 26th place with a score of 11-over-par 227 (78, 74, 75), performing well on par 5s, tying for the third-best scoring total at two-under-par while also totaling just one double bogey. 

Catalina Garcia tied for 73rd with a total score of 24-over-par 240 (82, 78, 80), while Alivia Webinger placed 81st with a score of 27-over-par 243 (82, 74, 87). Webinger set a new collegiate best in round two, finishing two-over-par 74. Kirsten Smith rounded out Rocky's competitors, tied for 84th place, totaling a score of 31-over-par 247 (82, 82, 83). 

The Rocky women tied for 11th overall with No.19-ranked Taylor University, totaling a team score of 65-over-par 929 (314, 302, 313). The Battlin' Bears ranked eighth amongst the field in total birdies, totaling 25 as a team. 

No. 3-ranked Marian University won the tournament with a team score of five-over-par 869.
