Rocky Volleyball Finishes the Halo Classic 2-2 to Open Their Season

Box Score 1 SAN ANTONIO, Texas- Rocky Volleyball bounced back from a morning defeat to secure a four-set victory over host school Our Lady of the Lake, concluding the Halo Classic on Saturday.

Match 1: #16 Dakota Wesleyan 3, Rocky 0

The Battlin' Bears faced their first ranked opponent of the season to open the day, ultimately falling in straight sets to No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan. The Tigers, who have yet to drop a single set through their first four contests of the year, hit nearly .300 as a team and amassed 50 kills in the sweep.

For the Battlin' Bears, Josie West led the offense with nine kills, while Ella Kincaid added seven kills and anchored the defense with three solo blocks.

Match 2: Rocky 3, Our Lady of the Lake 1

Host school Our Lady of the Lake University seized the early momentum, hitting an impressive .375 compared to the Battlin' Bears' .028, cruising to a 25-13 first-set win.

From there, however, Rocky responded with authority. The Battlin' Bears rattled off three consecutive set victories (25-19, 25-19, 25-17) to claim the match. Rocky's attack found its rhythm, hitting above .233 as a unit with just 10 combined attack errors the rest of the way. On the other side of the net, the Saints faltered against Rocky's surging momentum, committing 28 attack errors over those final three frames.

Olivia Fauth paved the way offensively with 11 kills and a .375 hitting percentage, while Sadie Meier contributed six. Ella Kincaid tallied five kills alongside four total blocks, and Zoey Albert anchored the backline with a team-high 15 digs.

The Battlin' Bears (2-2) will have two weeks to prepare for the start of their conference schedule. They hit the road on Tuesday, September 1st, traveling to Helena to take on Carroll College.
