Rocky Volleyball Sweeps Comets For First Conference Victory

MAYVILLE, N.D. - Rocky Volleyball earned a commanding three-set victory over Mayville State to claim its first conference win of the season.

Olivia Fauth (.524) and Sadie Meier (.333) spearheaded the offense with 12 kills apiece, guiding the Battlin' Bears to a decisive road win.

How it Happened

Rocky's attack was dialed in from the opening serve, posting 12 kills on 36 attempts for an efficient .306 hitting percentage in the first set. Mayville State stumbled early with nine attack errors, allowing the Battlin' Bears to cruise to a comfortable 25-15 victory.

Offensive efficiency remained the story in the second set, as eight Mayville State attack errors, coupled with strong backline play from the Battlin' Bears, held the Comets to a .000 as a team. Rocky continued to cruise, as 14 kills at a .267 clip led them to another commanding set win, 25-18.

Mayville State showed signs of life in the third set, seizing an early 12-8 lead. Olivia Fauth sparked the Rocky response, spiking three kills to spark a 7-2 run and snatch a 15-14 advantage. The Comets rallied back with a pair of key blocks to retake a 20-18 lead, but Fauth once again stepped up in the clutch. She accounted for three of Rocky's final six points before Kaitlyn Wood put the exclamation point on the evening with a match-ending kill to complete the road sweep.
