Rocky Women’s Soccer Draws 1-1 Against Northwest

BILLINGS, Mont. - Senior Charlize Davis netted an equalizer in the 76th minute to force a 1-1 draw against Northwest University on Saturday afternoon.

While the Battlin' Bears created plenty of opportunities, particularly in the second half, the Eagles' defense held Rocky to just one goal despite 20 total shot attempts.

How it Happened
Northwest's Liliana Eckert scored the lone goal of the opening half in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on a Rocky turnover near the box, beating a defender, and curling a looping shot into the left side of the net. A Battlin' Bear offense that averages over 17 shots and two goals per game struggled to maintain possession early, as they were held to just four shot attempts through the opening 45 minutes.
Rocky's attack found its rhythm after the break, outshooting Northwest 16-3 in the final period. Davis finally broke through in the 76th minute when Molly Loughton played her into space with momentum toward the goal. Davis drove her team-leading sixth goal of the season just under the crossbar to tie it 1-1, a scoreline that held through the final whistle.

Notable Statistics
Overall, Rocky outshot the Eagles 20-8, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal. Charlize Davis spearheaded the attack, generating nine total shot attempts with five on frame. In goal, Matea Vernon recorded three saves for the Battlin' Bears.

For Northwest, Talia Hurst led the offense with three shot attempts, putting two on target. Goalkeeper Ali Tiechner was vital in keeping the draw intact, making eight saves on nine shots faced.
