Shaughn McKeon has been assistant coach with the Battlin' Bears since 2017. McKeon joined the Rocky staff after working as an assistant varsity coach at Sentinel High School in Missoula.
McKeon began his collegiate coaching career as the assistant coach at Montana State University – Northern from 2011-2013 where he was on the staff during the Lights trip to the NAIA National Championships in 2013. McKeon then became an assistant varsity coach at Sentinel High School in Missoula in 2014. McKeon would coach three years in Missoula before starting with Rocky in 2017.Â
During his time at Rocky Mountain College, McKeon has had great success, coaching 11 Frontier All Conference selections. two All American selections, one Frontier Conference Defensive Player of Year (Craig Wilmore) and one Frontier Conference Freshman of Year (Kael Robinson). McKeon also coached on the 2019 team that made the NAIA National Tournament.Â
After playing one year of basketball at University of Montana Western in 2006-07, McKeon transferred to MSU-Northern where he played football. He graduated from Northern in 2012 with a degree in health promotions. After moving to Missoula, McKeon earned a business degree from the University of Montana. During his time at Rocky, McKeon completed his masters degree in Sport and Athletic Administration from Gonzaga University.
McKeon is from Butte, Montana where he was an all-state selection in both football and basketball at Butte Central High School. McKeon and his wife Stacey have a son named Owen.
