Earned Frontier Conference Player of the Week after averaging 26.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game as Rocky went 2-0 at the Sam Milanovich Classic. He was a perfect 17-17 from the free throw line, 5-of-7 from three point range, and shot over 50% from the field, while only turning the ball over four times as the primary ball handler. His weekend began with 23 points and seven assists in Rocky’s win over Valley City State (11/24/23). Background: Attended Billings West HS in Billings, Montana, where he was one of the best athletes in the state in basketball and football. On the court, Owens was a two-time all-state selection, scoring 17.9 points per game his senior year as he led the Bears to a third-place finish at the MHSA Class AA Tournament, earning Class AA All-Tournament First Team honors. On the football field, Owens was the Class AA Offensive MVP his senior season as he led Billings Wester to a state championship in 2018.
Committed to the University of Montana to play football, where he joined the roster as a wide receiver. After his freshman season in Missoula,
Owens transferred to Montana State University in the spring of 2020, where he began his collegiate basketball career with the Bobcats, appearing in just one game, dishing an assist against Eastern Washington.
