Battlin’ Bears Easily Down Lions

BILLINGS, Mont. – The 12th-ranked Rocky Mountain College men's soccer team completed a perfect home weekend by defeating Multnomah University 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at Wendy's Field.
 
Rocky Mountain (8-1, 4-1 CCC) took the lead in the ninth minute when Jonah Gronmayer headed in a cross from Sky Swenson. The Battlin' Bears made it 2-0 in the 16th minute with a finish by Marco Kummerle on a through ball by Sam Davidson.
 
Rocky maintained the 2-0 lead into the halftime break before erupting for five goals in the second half. Kummerle opened the second half scoring on a free kick from 25 yards out. The Battlin' Bears added goals from Luca Wiechers, Davidson, Chasen Lashure and Swenson after intermission.
 
The home side took 31 shots in the win and they put 17 of those chances on goal. Rocky had 11 different players take a shot and seven of them take multiple shots. The Battlin' Bears took 10 corner kicks and held Multnomah (2-8, 0-6) to just one shot.
 
Kummerle added a second-half assist to record his second five-point game of the season. Tulio Melo and Mason Luse also had one assist each for the Battlin' Bears.
 
Cole Catlin earned the shutout victory – his second shutout of the season – with one save in the first half.
 
Rocky will now play its next four games on the road. The stretch begins on Friday against Carroll College in Helena, Montana.
