No. 10 Rocky Wins at Carroll 1-0

HELENA, Mont. – The 10th-ranked Rocky Mountain College men's soccer team secured its fifth straight victory with a 1-0 decision at Carroll College on Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.

Rocky (9-1, 5-1 CCC) wasn't able to find the back of the net during the first half despite attempting 12 shots and putting five on goal. The Battlin' Bears would find the game-winner in the 67th minute as Matthew Thomas tallied his fifth career game-winning goal from the right side of the penalty area.

The fourth goal of the season for Thomas came from one of his two total shots and only shot on goal in the contest.

While Rocky applied most of the pressure during the first half, it was Carroll (5-5, 3-4 CCC) that had more chances in the second half. The home side put five shots on goal after intermission and ended the day with six of their eight total chances on frame.

Rocky finished the afternoon with 18 shots and seven on goal. Pablo Ferreira took a team-high six shots – one on goal – and Marci Kummerle had five shots with and one on frame.

Cole Catlin earned the win in goal for the Battlin' Bears with six saves. This is his third shutout of the season and 14th in his career.

This is just the second game this season the Battlin' Bears were held to less than three goals and it's the only the second 1-0 win in the team's past 33 games dating back to 2015.

Rocky will now head to Great Falls, Montana where they will face University of Providence on Saturday. The action from Argo Field is schedule for a 1 p.m. start.
