Corban Strikes Late to Down Rocky

SALEM, Ore. – The Rocky Mountain College women's soccer team gave up two goals in the final five minutes as they fell to Corban on Friday night.
 
Rocky (8-3, 4-2 CCC) was leading 1-0 after Lauryn Gamache scored her 11th goal of the season in the 37th minute. Tiara Duford setup the goal for her second assist of the year.
 
The Battlin' Bears held the 1-0 advantage into the 86th minute before Holly Moorman snuck a shot by Maia Wetzel and into the goal to level the match.
 
The stunning blow came in the 89th minute when Rocky was called for a foul in the penalty area. Annouscka Kordom converted the ensuing penalty kick to give Corban (8-5-1, 5-2-1 CCC) the late lead.
 
Rocky took eight shots in the game, but they only had two on goal. They allowed 16 shots to Corban and the home side had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
 
Rita Marshall led Rocky with two shots and had the team's second shot on goal.
 
Wetzel suffered the loss in goal with three saves.
 
Rocky returns to action on Saturday when they face Northwest Christian at 8 p.m. MT.
