BILLINGS, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College football team returns to Herb Klindt Field on Saturday as they host No. 5 Montana Tech in Frontier Conference action. The game is part of Hall of Fame Weekend at Rocky and is the first of two straight home games for the Battlin' Bears.

Rocky Mountain heads into Saturday with a 2-1 overall record and at 2-0 in the Frontier Conference. The Battlin' Bears received seven points in this week's NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll to show among the other teams receiving votes. Rocky has won two straight games for the first time since the 2015 season and they are 1-0 at home.

The Battlin' Bears currently lead the Frontier Conference by averaging 260.0 yards per game on the ground. They have recorded 307 and 297 yards rushing in each of the past two games respectively. They are 11th in the NAIA in rushing offense per game and sixth with 780 total rushing yards. Rocky averages 157.0 passing yards per game and they are fourth in the conference by scoring 33.3 points per game.

Defensively, Rocky is currently second in the Frontier in rushing defense, total defense, and scoring defense. They are holding the opposition to 27.3 points per game on the year and giving up only 360.0 total yards per game. The Bears are 22nd in the NAIA by holding opponents to 121.3 rushing yards per game.

The special teams unit has been solid for the team this season. Rocky ranks fifth in the NAIA by averaging 28.2 yards per kickoff return and they sit 16th with a 39.3 yards per punt average. The have converted all PAT attempts and gone 5 of 7 on field goals.

In the series with Montana Tech – dating back to the 2004 season – Rocky has just four wins in 21 meetings. The Orediggers are 8-2 in games played in Billings during the time frame. The Battlin' Bears average just 17.0 points per game while allowing 31.1 in those contests. Tech has won three straight games in the series, including a 62-10 win at Herb Klindt Field on October 29, 2016.
