DILLON, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College volleyball team opened its second straight weekend on the road with a 3-0 sweep at Montana Western on Friday night at Straugh Gymnasium.
Rocky Mountain (13-6, 4-1 Frontier) earned the road win by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-13.
The Battlin' Bears had five players with at least five kills as they totaled 40 as a team in the win. They hit .213 for the match while giving up just 28 kills and .089 hitting to Montana Western (9-9, 1-4).
Daniella Russell led the Rocky offense with 10 kills for her ninth double-digit effort of the season and third straight. Russell hit .114 and added two digs and one block.
In holding Western's offense in check, Rocky posted 64 digs and five blocks.
Holland Fergurson led the team with 18 digs.
Olivia L'Ami added nine kills and .207 hitting for the Battlin' Bears.
Hailey Copinga finished with eight kills and 13 digs.
Sydney Matheny and
Tess Hellerud had five kills apiece.
Natalie Hilderman had a fourth straight double-double with 27 assists and 11 digs.
UMW was led by nine kills from Tessa Miller and eight by Kyra Palmer.
Rocky will now head to Helena, Montana for a match on Saturday against Carroll College. First serve from the Carroll PE Center is slated for 2 p.m.
