GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College women's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 2-0 victory over University of Providence on Tuesday afternoon.
Rocky (1-0) and Providence (0-1) kept pace with each other through the first half of play with neither team giving ground. It was not until the 52
nd minute that Rocky began to pull away with an unassisted goal by
Hannah Borgel.
Tiara Duford would find the back of the net herself in the 76
th minute.
Both the Battlin' Bears and the Argos attempted 11 shots with 6 on goal. The difference was Rocky's
Maia Wetzel who would finish the night holding the Argos scoreless with 6 saves and no goals allowed.
Providence had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Battlin' Bears will now return home to Billings, Mont. to play Briar Cliff Saturday at 1 p.m. at Herb Klindt Field. More action will continue Monday in Billings as Rocky will play Mid-America Christian at 11 a.m. at Wendy's Field.
