BILLINGS, Mont. – Avenging their Jan. 5 loss, the Battlin' Bears soared past the Montana Tech Orediggers 88-55 Saturday night.
A 21-6 run to end the first half vaulted the Battlin' Bears ahead of the Orediggers. Maintaining a firm lead the rest of the way, four Battlin' Bears scored in the double digits. 53 of Rocky's 88 points came from the bench.
Shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor,
Satchel McDonald posted 17 points with five rebounds and four assists. The senior from St. Louis, Mo., was 2-2 on the free-throw line.
Austin Payne scored 14 points with seven rebounds.
Jared Samuelson scored 12 points with six rebounds while
Grant Wallace contributed an additional 10 points and five rebounds.
The Battlin' Bears scored 24 points off of turnovers and held a 12-9 advantage in steals.
Montana Tech was out-rebounded 39-25.
The Battlin' Bears posted a 61 percent field goal percentage and drained 9-of-22 from beyond the arc. Montana Tech was held to just 30.2 percent from the floor.
Montana Tech's Carson Drummer scored 10 points.
Rocky will next play the Montana Western Bulldogs on Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fortin Education Center.
