Rocky topples No. 16 ranked Lewis-Clark

BILLINGS, Mont. – In a close overtime game, the Battlin' Bears were able to secure victory with a 84-81 win over the No. 16 ranked Warriors.

A few crucial turnovers by the Battlin' Bears in the final minute gave the Warriors the opportunity to tie the game. Lewis-Clark's Derrick White hit a three point buzzer beater to send the game into overtime tied 74-74.

Tied 78-78 with a 1:50 left in overtime, Rocky's Jared Samuelson sank four free throws due to Warrior technical fouls. It proved enough as the Battlin' Bears won 84-81.

Jared Samuelson posted his fifth double double of the season with 29 points and 13 rebounds. He currently leads the Frontier Conference in scoring, rebounds, and double doubles.

Danny Betcher scored 14 points with six rebounds while Lukas Vining contributed 10 points and three assists.

Rocky finished the night shooting a 43.5 field goal percentage. In comparison, the Warriors shot 37.8 percent from the floor.

The Battlin' Bears drained 32 percent of their three pointers.

In regards to boards, both teams were nearly even with Rocky holding just a 42-41 advantage.The Warriors held a 6-5 advantage in steals.

Lewis-Clark's Dana Abe scored 18 points. Damek Mitchell scored 16 points with eight rebounds.

Rocky will next play in Havre, Mont., against MSU-Northern on Feb. 1. The men's game will begin at 8 p.m. as the women's teams will face off at 6 p.m.
