BILLINGS, Mont. – After a three game losing streak on the road, the No. 24 ranked Battlin' Bears returned home to secure a 77-51 win over the No. 23 ranked University of Providence Argos Thursday night.
An 11-2 run at the beginning of the first period quickly vaulted the Battlin' Bears (17-10, 8-7 FC) ahead. At the half, Rocky's
Brooke Jones had already scored 18 points to put the Battlin' Bears up by 24.
Providence (17-10, 6-9 FC) was never able to mount a comeback due to a stifling Rocky defense. The Battlin' Bears were able to hold Providence to just 25.9 percent from the field and 1-of-14 threes on the night.
Four Battlin' Bears scored in the double digits. Jones finished with 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the team in both categories.
Alecia Chamberlin scored 19 points in addition to
Justyn Juhl's 15 and
Markaela Francis' 10.
Rocky shot 58.3 percent from the field and drained 30.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Providence was led by Tristan Murphy's 16 points. Parker Esary provided eight additional points and seven boards.
Rocky will stay at home to play MSU-Northern Feb. 16 in their final home game of the regular season. The game will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
