DILLON, Mont., February 9, 2019 – The No. 22 ranked Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears dropped a close 80-79 loss to the Montana Western Bulldogs.
Leading by just one at the half, Rocky (16-10, 7-7 FC) was unable to pull far enough ahead of the Bulldogs (8-17, 2- 12 FC) with the lead exchanging hands nine times. A free throw by Montana Western's Kooper Kidgell with just five seconds left in the game sealed the win in the Bulldogs favor.
Rocky's
Jared Samuelson posted 21 points and seven rebounds on the night.
Clayton Ladine scored 14 while
Satchel McDonald contributed an additional 11.
Montana Western shot 49.1 percent to Rocky's 44.4 percent from the field. For threes, the Bulldogs were good for 9-of-26 while the Battlin' Bears drained 8-of-28. Rocky was unable to drain a single basket from beyond the arc in the second period.
Both teams pulled in 35 boards.
Cedric Boone provided 19 points for the Bulldogs while Kooper Kidgell posted a 17 point performance.
With tonight's upset, Rocky Mountain College's losing streak extends to three games. They will return home to play the University of Providence Argos at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.
