DILLON, Mont.– No. 21 ranked Rocky Mountain College ended their road series with a narrow 59-55 loss to the No. 3 ranked Montana Western Bulldogs Saturday night.
No. 3 ranked Montana Western (21-2, 12-2 FC) was never able to secure a lead larger than 10 points despite Rocky's (16-10, 7-7 FC) costly 19 turnovers.
Markaela Francis scored 13 points with nine rebounds and two steals to lead the Battlin' Bears in all three categories.
Kloie Thatcher provided 11 points while
Alecia Chamberlin posted a 10 point and eight rebound performance.
Out-shooting one of the most accurate teams in the NAIA, the Battlin' Bears finished the night shooting 43.1 percent while draining 5-of-17 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs, in comparison, shot an even 40 percent from the field and 5-of 24 on threes.
Rocky struggled to contain the Frontier Conference scoring leader, Brianna King, who scored 25 points in the Bulldog's win.
The Battlin' Bears will return home for a game against the University of Providence Argos on Feb. 14. That action will tip off at 5:30 p.m. in the Fortin Education Center.
