BILLINGS, Mont. – Despite a strong start, momentum shifted for Rocky Mountain College in the third set as the Battlin' Bears fell to crosstown rival MSU-Billings in five sets.
Aiming for their third consecutive sweep of an opponent in four days, Rocky Mountain College took the first two sets in 25-21 and 25-22. Rocky was poised to claim the victory with a 5-0 scoring streak in the third set, but the MSU-Billings rallied back to tie the game at 10-10.
The game shifted in the Yellowjackets favor who won the next three sets for the win.
Daniella Russell knocked down 16 kills to lead Rocky's scoring efforts.
Morgan Allen had 15 kills and four blocks on the night.
Monique Rodriguez also scored in the double digits with 10 kills.
Natalie Hilderman had a season-high 48 assists on the night.
Ayla Embry recorded 25 digs.
The Yellowjackets were led by Bayli Monk's 22 kills while Hannah Hashbarger recorded 59 assists. Marissa Logozzo had 31 digs.
The Battlin' Bears will stay in Billings to play Lewis Clark State on September 27 at 7 p.m. in the Fortin Education Center.
