BILLINGS, Mont. – The No. 23 ranked Battlin' Bears advanced to 4-0 in the Frontier Conference with a sweep of No. 18 ranked Montana Tech.
The Battlin' Bears took the first set 25-20 before cruising to a 25-17 win in the second set. Montana Tech recovered in the third set and took a commanding 22-16 lead. A kill by
Monique Rodriguez ignited the Battlin' Bears who outscored the Orediggers 9-1 late in the third set. Rocky claimed a 25-23 victory to finish the sweep.
Rocky's
Monique Rodriguez led the Battlin' Bears with 10 kills while
Daniella Russell posted seven of her own.
Naomi Bad Bear recorded six kills and six blocks while
Morgan Allen had seven kills and four blocks.
Natalie Hilderman contributed 29 assists.
The Orediggers were led by Gena McMillan who knocked down 12 kills in addition to pulling in 16 digs. McKenna Kaelber posted 34 assists.
The Battlin' Bears will next travel to Great Falls, Montana to take on the No. 16 ranked University of Providence Argos on October 3.
