DILLON, Mont. – Led by 27 points from Cedric Boone, University of Montana Western defeated Rocky Mountain College 94-80 Saturday night.
Shooting 48.39 percent from the field in the first period, Rocky trailed by only three points at 39-36 entering the half. The Battlin' Bears were able to tie the game at 39-39 and 42-42 in the first minute of the second period. The Bulldogs responded, however, with an 11-3 run and held the lead for the rest of the game.
Landing 7-of 13 from the floor,
Clayton Ladine had 20 points and a team-high six assists.
Lukas Vining had 15 points in addition to 11 from
Darius Henderson.
Maxim Stephens had the night's only double double and the first of his career with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Boone had a big night with a team-high 27 points and seven assists for the Bulldogs. The pair of James Jones and Connor Burkhart each scored 17 points while Max Clark had 12.
Rocky finished the night landing 27-of-65 from the floor and shot 32 percent from deep. Montana Western shot a 53.7 field goal percentage including a blistering 53.6 percent from beyond the arc.
The Battlin' Bears held a 36-33 advantage in boards.
With the loss, Rocky's losing streak extends to four games.
Rocky will look to pick up its first Frontier Conference win of 2020 against Montana Tech in Butte, Mont., on January 23.
