BILLINGS, Mont. – Despite five Battlin' Bears scoring in the double digits, Rocky Mountain College was defeated 76-61 by the No. 9 ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints Wednesday night.
Carroll led 40-28 at the half, but the Battlin' Bears managed to draw the game within seven points at 53-46 with 11:36 left in the game. However, the Saints, shooting 54.17 percent in the second period, held off the Battlin' Bears and built a 15 point lead by the buzzer.
Five Battlin' Bears scored in the double digits led by
Sam Vining's 12 points.
Clayton Ladine had 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds while
Darius Henderson scored 11 points with seven assists. The pair of
Grant Wallace and
Brandon The Boy each had 10 points.
Both Jovan Sljivancanin and Ifeanyi Okeke posted double doubles for the Saints. Sljivancanin had a team-high 23 points and 10 rebounds while Okeke scored 10 points with a team-high 11 boards. Both Dane Warp and Shamrock Campbell each scored 15 points while Jonny Hillman had 11.
The Saints finished the night shooting 51.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. The Battlin' Bears shot 48.1 percent on the night including 6-of-19 from deep.
The Saints held a 32-28 advantage in boards.
The Battlin' Bears will next play Montana Western in Dillon, Mont., on Saturday.
