HELENA, Mont. – Despite a close first half, Rocky Mountain College was unable to keep pace with Carroll College during the second period in a 68-60 loss on Tuesday night.
Landing 6-of-13 from deep in the first period, the Battlin' Bears initially stayed close with the No. 17 ranked Fighting Saints as the two teams entered the half tied at 30-30.
The second period was a different story however as the Battlin' Bears 3-point shooting dropped to just 22.2 percent. Within the first five minutes, Carroll jumped ahead on a 13-5 run and led the rest of the way.
The Battlin' Bears finished the night shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc. Carroll, on the other hand, shot 46 percent, but landed just 15.4 percent of their 3-point attempts.
The Saints held a commanding 40-29 advantage on the glass which included an 11-5 edge in offensive rebounds.
Rocky's
Grant Wallace finished with a team-high 19 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Clayton Ladine had 10 points while pulling in five rebounds and dishing out five assists.
Sam Vining had an additional 15 points.
Jovan Sljivancanin posted the game's only double double with 16 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Dane Warp had a team-high 21 points while Ifeanyi Okeke scored 11.
The Battlin' Bears will return home to play Montana Western on Feb. 13.
