BILLINGS, Mont. – Shooting a blistering 68.4 percent from beyond the arc, No. 24 ranked Rocky Mountain College cruised to a 88-72 win over No. 18 ranked MSU-Northern Saturday night.
The Battlin' Bears held a 49-30 lead at the half and increased the margin to as much as 23 points in the third period. Rocky landed 13-of-19 on their three point attempts on the night in large part due to
Kloie Thatcher and
Keahi-lele Roy.
Thatcher was good for 5-of-5 from deep through the first two periods as the sophomore from Butte, Mont., finished the night with 25 points and five assists. Roy had a career-high 24 points after hitting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc and 10-of-12 at the free-throw line.
Markaela Francis posted her tenth double double of the season with 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Antuanisha Wright had an additional 14 points.
The Skylights' Peyton Kehr had a team-high 14 points while Allix Goldhahn and Tiara Gilham each scored 12. Gilham had a team-high seven boards.
The Battlin' Bears shot 57.4 percent from the field. In comparison, the Skylights had a 42.4 field goal percentage while hitting 7-of-17 on threes.
Rocky held a 32-29 advantage on the glass including a 24-16 edge in defensive boards.
Rocky will next play Carroll College on Feb. 11 in Helena, Mont.
