Rocky Soccer Sweeps Multnomah in Portland

BILLINGS, Mont. Oct. 21, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Soccer sweeps Multnomah on Friday, with the women winning 5-1 and the men winning 3-2. 

The Battlin' Bears women started off the weekend hot with three first half goals by Carly Roth (4'), Laura Kellner on a penalty kick (17'), and Brynn Klinefelter (21'). For the second game in a row, the Battlin' Bears defense only allowed one shot in the entirety of the match, which was a goal by Multnomah's Manuela Arango in the 71st minute. After the Lion's score, Brynn Klinefelter would score twice within the next five minutes of game time, leading the Battlin' Bears to a 5-1 victory.

The Rocky men would follow the women's quick start as Maddox Gallia would find the back of the net off an assist from Igor Soares in the 8th minute, followed by an Ethan Maguire goal in the 16th minute to give Rocky a 2-0 lead. Multnomah's Michael Appiah would score in the 40th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1 at half. The Lions scored within the first minute of play in the second half to tie things up at 2-2. Niklas Kneller would be the difference maker in the end, scoring a goal in his third consecutive match to give the Battlin' Bears the lead and eventually the 3-2 victory.

The Battlin' Bears will stay in Portland, Oregon to take on Warner Pacific University Saturday. The women (4-8-3, 2-6-2 conf.) will begin play at 1:00 pm (MT), while the men (8-5-1, 6-4 conf.) will begin at 3:30 pm (MT).
