Rocky Soccer Splits Matches Against Warner Pacific in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. Oct. 22, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Soccer splits their matches against Warner Pacific University in Portland, the women winning 2-0 and the men falling 1-3.

The Battlin' Bears women (5-8-3, 3-6-2 conf.) continued their hot streak by winning their third straight match. Both scores would happen in the first half, as Maja Albertsen scored in the 12th minute, followed by Morgan Maack finding the back of the net in the 20th minute. The Rocky defense continued to shine, holding the Knights to only two shots. Rocky totalled 20 shots in the victory, while Mandi Dallimore tallied her first two saves of the season in her third start as goalie. The win by the Battlin' Bears marked Coach Richard Duffy's 200th career win as the head coach of the women's team.

The Rocky men (8-6-1, 6-5 conf.) would have a tall task against the undefeated No. 22 Warner Pacific Knights. In the eighth minute, Andrew Martinez knocked in his nation-leading 25th goal of the season to take an early 1-0 lead. Angel Mange responded by scoring on a penalty kick in the 20th minute to tie things up, which was the score that held through the half. Warner Pacific rode goals from Hunter Leach and another goal from Andrew Martinez to take a 1-3 victory over the Battlin' Bears. Rocky was outshot 5-15 by the Cascade Conference-leading Knights.

The Battlin' Bears men and women will host Carroll College on Friday, October 28th on Wendy's Field, which will be women's final regular season match. The men will host Walla Walla on Sunday to wrap up their regular season.
