BILLINGS, Mont. - Rocky Men's and Women's Basketball will end their non-conference schedules by hosting the Hampton Inn Green and Gold Classic, presented by Erck Hotels. Battlin' Bears Recap: Rocky women's basketball competed in the 2022 Cactus Classic, in which they finished 2-1, defeating Benedictine University at Mesa and San Diego Christian College, while falling in overtime to (RV) Rust College. Mackenzie Dethman was named Frontier Conference Player of the Week after her performance in Arizona, where she averaged 10.7 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, 2.0 assists per game, 1.0 steal per game, while shooting 56% from the field and 64% from three point range. Dethman has already doubled her career three pointers during this season, coming into the season hitting seven threes in each of her past two seasons This season Dethman has emerged as one of the Battlin' Bears most efficient shooters, hitting 15-30 from three point range so far this season. This ties her for second most three pointers made this season on the team, while being fifth on the team in three point attempts. Dethman leads qualified players in the Frontier Conference in three point percentage, while also being 10th in the nation with her 50% three point percentage.Â
Rocky men finished the 2022 Cactus Classic 1-2, after defeating (RV) Hope International, while falling to Menlo College and OUAZ. Maxim Stephens has been a difference maker since returning to the lineup, as he averaged 17.0 points per game, 7.6 rebounds, 1.3 blocks per game, and 1.0 steal per game in Arizona. Stephens is currently the Battlin' Bears leading scorer in his five games played this season, starting the season averaging 14.6 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52% from the field and 46% from three point range.Â

Scouting the Trojans: The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Trojan women have begun their season 7-1, including winning their last three games.Â
The Trojan women have been led by guard Brook Baker (16.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 3.0 spg), guard Kaleigh Sellars (11.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.9 spg), and guard Macy Mulholland (7.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.8 apg). SAIT averages 66.6 points per game this season, while only allowing 58.8 points per game.Â
The Trojans are coached by head coach Ranbir Parmar in his seventh season.
The SAIT men have begun their season 3-5, picking up a victory in their last game against Lethbridge College.Â
The Trojan men have been led by guard Marcus Masters (27.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 47.7 3pt %), forward Kuol Kuol (14.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.3 spg), and guard Charlie Conner (11.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.0 apg). SAIT men average 81.3 points per game this season, while allowing 84.6 points per game.Â

Scouting the Blue Hawks: The Dickinson State Blue Hawk women have begun their season 5-8 and are 1-3 since their double-header against the Battlin' Bears just a month ago. The Battlin' Bears won both matches in Dickinson by the scores of 81-42 and 79-48.
The Blue Hawks are led by sophomore center Samantha Oase (11.7 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.2 bpg), senior guard Lindsay Peterson (10.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.3 apg), and sophomore guard Kayden Steele (9.2 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 35.4 3pt %). The Dickinson State women average 59.6 points per game this season, while allowing 66.8 points per game.Â
The Dickinson State men have begun their season 3-8, with their last win being over the Battlin' Bears on November 26th, as they defeated Rocky 74-65.Â
The Blue Hawks are led by sophomore guard John Evans (11.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 44% 3pt %), sophomore forward Gus Wright (10.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 bpg), and sophomore forward Tyce Dahlberg (9.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.6 apg). The Dickinson State men average 72.5 points per game this season, while allowing 75.7 points per game.Â
