Rocky Women’s Basketball Closes Non-Conference Schedule With a 64-47 Victory Over Dickinson State

The Battlin' Bears women take back to back victories to finish their non-conference schedule.

BILLINGS, Mont. - Rocky Women's Basketball goes 2-0 in the Hampton Inn Green and Gold Classic after defeating Dickinson State 64-47 Friday evening. 

A high scoring first quarter saw the Battlin' Bears hit three three-pointers, including two from Gracee Lekvold. The Blue Hawks shot 50% from the field however, resulting in a 17-17 tie at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Battlin' Bears catch fire, as they finished the second quarter on a 10-0 run, capped off by consecutive Tynesha Parnell three pointers to give Rocky a 33-29 lead, a lead of which they would not give back. 

The Battlin' Bears hit 10 threes in the winning effort, while forcing 16 Blue Hawk turnovers. 

Rocky was led by 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals by Gracee Lekvold, 11 points, three assists, and three three-pointers from Tynesha Parnell, and nine points, four rebounds and three steals by Kloie Thatcher. 

The Blue Hawks were led by 16 points and three rebounds from Lindsay Peterson and six points and seven rebounds from Samantha Oase. 

The Battlin' Bears (10-4) will take on MSU-Northern next Thursday, January 5th as Frontier Conference play picks back up after the new year.
