Stephens’ Double-Double Leads Rocky Women’s Basketball Over MSU-Northern 76-60

The Battlin' Bears women begin Frontier Conference play 3-0 after victory over Skylights.

HAVRE, Mont.- Rocky Women's Basketball takes down MSU-Northern 76-60 in Havre Thursday evening. 

The Battlin' Bears came out to a hot start, beginning on a 17-4 run to open up the ball game as they took a 22-14 lead into the second quarter. The Skylights stayed persistent however, bringing the ball game back to a 37-35 Rocky lead into halftime. 

Kloie Thatcher took over in the second half, scoring 14 of her 17 points in the second half, helping pull the Battlin' Bears away in the fourth quarter to a 16 point victory. 

"We defended much better in the second half tonight." Coach Wes Keller said. "I thought we really shared the ball on offense well tonight. Dom and Kloie really sparked us in the 4th quarter. It was a total team effort tonight."

The Battlin' Bears were led all night on both ends by Dominique Stephens, who finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks. Thatcher finished with 17 points, four rebounds, and four steals, while Morgan Baird finished with 15 points off the bench for Rocky. The Battlin' Bears shot an even 50% from the field in the victory. 

The Skylights were led by 13 points and five rebounds from Shyan Krass, while guard Brianna McCullough finished with nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists. 

The Battlin' Bears (11-4, 3-0 conf.) host a Frontier Conference Championship rematch against No. 11 ranked Carroll College in the Fortin Education Center on Saturday, January 7th at 2:00pm.
