Rocky Volleyball Splits Matches in Final Day of Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament

BILLINGS, Mont., Sept. 17, 2022- The Battlin' Bears split their matches Saturday, winning against Montana Western 3-2, and dropping to Montana Tech 0-3. 

Rocky took a victory against Montana Western, who came into the match on an eight game win streak, and had not lost a single set in the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament. Rocky and Western traded the first four sets (25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 16-25), until Rocky took complete control of the fifth set, winning 15-7. Makenna Bushman and Bella Bryan each had 15 kills, Blythe Sealey tallied 48 assists, and Ayla Embry finished with 34 digs. 

Rocky was overmatched in their evening game against Montana Tech, the only Top-25 team in the tournament, losing 3-0 (18-25, 18-25, 23-25). Taylor Wolf had 12 kills in the defeat, while Ayla Embry had 22 digs. Tech was led by Maureen Jessop's 15 kills, as she continues a dominant start to the 2022 season. 

Rocky (7-10) will begin conference play on Friday, September 23rd as they host MSU-Northern in the Fortin Education Center.
