Rocky Men’s Soccer Falls in Heartbreaking Fashion at Home 2-1

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears dropped another heartbreaker, after tying the match with 1:24 remaining in the match, Northwest immediately responded with a goal to steal the match in Billings.

Northwest was the first to strike, after Tyler Hopp scored off of a rebounded save to give the Eagles the lead in the 29th lead. Both teams put four shots on goal in the first half in an even matchup through the first 45 minutes of play.

Both squads had multiple opportunities to find the net in the second half, but neither team could capitalize. Rocky finally found their break on a corner kick by Lorenzo Klamler with 1:24 remaining in the match, as Northwest was called for a handball, giving Igor Soares the opportunity to tie the match up on a penalty kick, which he knocked into the top right corner of the net.

The Eagles didn't lose any confidence however, as less than a minute of game time later, Tyler Hopp tallied his second goal of the match, picking up the deflection from a long pass and securing the game winning goal with only 34 seconds remaining in the match.

Northwest outshot the Battlin' Bears 21-13 in the match. Oliver Fields and Angel Mange each led the team with four shots each. Stefan Schenk tied his career high with seven saves in the loss.

The Battlin' Bears (4-6-2, 2-6-0 conf.) will stay home to host Evergreen State College on Wendy's Field at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 15th.
