Rocky Women’s Soccer Falls 2-1 to Northwest University

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears outshot the Eagles 15-9 in the matchup, but Northwest found a way to secure the victory in Billings Friday afternoon.

Northwest put the first goal on the board just before halftime after a penalty kick was awarded following a free kick towards the goal. Monste Youngsman was given the opportunity and capitalized to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The Battlin' Bears answered 10 minutes into the second half, as Morgan Maack fired a shot that tipped off the goalkeeper's glove and bounced off the crossbar, but her teammate Emma Lensing was there to follow the ball into the net to tie the match at one a piece.

Another foul near the box proved to be costly for the Battlin' Bears, as Northwest's Gracie VanAssche took a free kick from just outside the box and rifled her shot into the top right corner of the goal to give the Eagles the deciding goal.

Northwest only was able to put three total shots on goal versus the Battlin' Bears, two of which turned into goals. Mya Maack and Emma Lensing each led the Battlin' Bears with four total shots in the losing effort.

The Battlin' Bears (2-7-1, 1-5-1 conf.) will stay home to host Evergreen State College on Wendy's Field at 3:30pm on Sunday, October 15th.
