Battlin’ Bears Volleyball Defeats Carroll College in Four Sets

HELENA, Mont.- A career night from Rhiannon Nez propelled Rocky to their fourth conference win of the season and their fourth consecutive win over the Fighting Saints. 

The Battlin' Bears hit .157 as a team in the winning effort in Helena. Rocky women cruised to first and third set victories, despite a Fighting Saints second set win that saw the Battlin' Bears uncharacteristically hit 11 attack errors. 

The fourth set was back and forth throughout, coming to a 25-24 Carroll College lead. Rhiannon Nez took the match over for the Battlin' Bears, spiking four consecutive kills before Makenna Bushman finished off a 29-27 fourth set victory to secure the match win for Rocky. 

Rhiannon Nez set a new career high with 18 kills with a .567 hitting percentage, as well as five total blocks on the night. Makenna Bushman (13) and Bella Bryan (12) both also finished with double digit kills on the night. Brooke Ark also set a new career high, finishing the night with 48 digs, the most by a Battlin' Bear since Ayla Embry tallied 58 against Montana Western in 2021. Blythe Sealey finished with 47 assists and 17 digs in the win. 

The Battlin' Bears (17-9, 4-2 conf.) travel to (RV) Montana Western on Friday, October 27th, before returning home to take on #10 Montana Tech at home on Saturday, October 28th as they celebrate senior night beginning at 6:00pm.
