Rocky Women’s Basketball Storms Past Trojans 89-46

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears put together a complete game as they ran past SAIT 89-46 to open up the Green and Gold Classic.

Ky Oliver continued a stretch of impressive shooting, starting the game with back-to-back three-pointers to open up the game Friday, sparking an 18-3 run in the first four minutes. The Battlin' Bears forced 10 first-quarter turnovers to jump out to a double-digit lead they would not give up, led by forcing 18 first-half Trojan turnovers and adding eight offensive rebounds along the way.

The Battlin' Bears continued dominance in the second half, never allowing more than 13 points in a quarter as Rocky cruised to a 43-point victory. Rocky forced a season-high 34 turnovers, which marked the third time this season Rocky has forced 25 or more turnovers in a single game.

Ky Oliver led the way for Rocky, scoring 20 points on 6-10 shooting from three-point range while adding 3 assists and 5 steals. Three more Battlin' Bears scored in double figures, including Gracee Lekvold (14), Iliana Moran (13), and Morgan Baird (13). Baird added seven rebounds. Five Rocky players also tallied three or more assists in the winning effort.

The Trojans were led by a game-high 22 points, four steals, and five rebounds from Brook Baker.

The Rocky women (10-1) will return to action Saturday evening for a rematch with Dickinson State. Tip-off will be at 5:30 pm at Lockwood High School.
