Rocky Women’s Basketball Runs Past Dickinson State 81-53

BILLINGS, Mont.- Five Battlin' Bears scored in double figures as the Rocky women concluded their non-conference schedule with a dominant win over the Blue Hawks on Saturday. 

Dickinson State grabbed their lone lead in the first quarter as Teagan Townsend hit a three-pointer to give the Blue Hawks an 8-7 edge to begin. Morgan Baird and Dominique Stephens combined for a 10-2 run in response as Rocky held a five-point lead after the first quarter. 

The defensive intensity turned on for Rocky in the second quarter, holding the Blue Hawks to just six points on 2-13 shooting from the field while forcing six turnovers. On the offensive side, Angie Cavanaugh hit a pair of three-pointers, with Morgan Baird and Dominique Stephens combining for 12 points on 5-6 shooting as Rocky expanded their lead to 21 going into halftime. 

Gracee Lekvold was a lightning bolt of offense in the third quarter, scoring 11 of her 15 points in the period on 4-5 shooting and 3-3 from three, adding four assists as the Rocky women scored 32 points and made their game-deciding run in the third quarter of Saturday's game. 

Lekvold finished the game with 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Stephens and Baird both scored 13 points in the win. Stephens grabbed seven boards with two blocks, while Baird added a career-high five assists. Ky Oliver (11) and Brenna Linse (10) also finished in double figures. 

The Rocky women (11-1) begin Frontier Conference play in Butte against Montana Tech on Saturday, January 6th.
