Rocky Men’s Soccer Draws With #9 Keiser University After Postponement

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Almost 24 hours after the original kickoff, the Battlin' Bears came to a 2-2 draw with the #9 ranked Keiser University Seahawks. 

The Rocky men started off in complete control in the first half on Friday afternoon, as they controlled possession throughout the first half. Freshman Tor Swann gained possession in the 12th minute, dribbling around multiple defenders before finding Maddox Gallia in the box, who fired a shot into the back of the net to give the Battlin' Bears an early 1-0 lead.

Rocky outshot Keiser 8-6 in the first half, with five of their eight shots being on goal, compared to only one Seahawk shot being on goal. 

Shortly after kickoff of the second half, inclement weather halted the progress of Friday's match, eventually being postponed after a two hour delay. 

Play resumed Saturday morning in the 47th minute with the Battlin' Bears holding a 1-0 lead. Igor Soares gave Rocky a 2-0 lead after knocking in a penalty kick in the 57th minute for his first goal of the season. 

Keiser found their rhythm in the second half, outshooting the Battlin' Bears 14-5. The Seahawks' Mikael Baisotti was able to draw the match, going 2-2 on penalty kicks in the final fifteen minutes of the match as the Battlin' Bears drew with ninth-ranked Keiser University 2-2 in Florida. 

The Battlin' Bears (1-0-1) will face Webber International on Keiser's campus on Sunday, September 3rd. Kickoff will begin at 11:30am (MT).
