Rocky Men’s Soccer Routs Walla Walla 6-0

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears scored three goals in each half on their way to a runaway 6-0 victory over Walla Walla University Saturday evening.

The Battlin' Bears got on the board early, as just 23 seconds in Igor Soares found Liam Pearce for his first collegiate goal and an early 1-0 lead for the Battlin' Bears. In the 16th minute, Maddox Gallia had a shot ring off the crossbar, but Igor Soares followed the rebound and sinked in his fifth goal of the season. Just a minute later, Pearce gave Gallia another opportunity that he capitalized on, scoring the third goal in the first 17 minutes to give Rocky a 3-0 lead.

Scoring halted until the 66th minute, when Igor Soares put a header into the net off of a corner kick from Lorenzo Klamler. In the 78th minute, Ben Ohl broke away from the Wolves' defenders for a one on one with the keeper. Ohl made the extra pass to Angel Mange, who sank in his fourth goal of the season. Liam Pearce started and finished the scoring on the evening, as Everett Manning dribbled around Walla Walla defenders, before finding Pearce to give Rocky their sixth goal of the evening.

Six goals is the most in a single game for the Battlin' Bears this season and the most in a single game since a 7-1 victory over McPherson College on September 3rd, 2022. The Battlin' Bears outshot the Wolves 32-2 in the winning effort. Stefan Schenk saved both shots he faced as he turned in his second clean sheet of the season.

The Battlin' Bears (4-3-2, 2-3 conf.) will hit the road to take on Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon next weekend, both teams that received votes in the most recent NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll.
