Rocky Volleyball Defeated by #2 University of Jamestown in Three Sets

BILLINGS, Mont.— The Battlin' Bears went head-to-head with the No. 2-ranked University of Jamestown at home, falling in three sets.

How it Happened

The Battlin' Bears shook a slow start to get back into the first set, but the second-ranked Jimmies were dominant offensively, hitting .324 as a team. Four service errors would ultimately hurt Rocky's comeback effort as the University of Jamestown grabbed the first set 25-19.

After the second set began back-and-forth, the Jimmies sparked momentum for a five-point run, capitalized by an ace serve from Ellie Holen. The Battlin' Bears responded accordingly, as a kill from Makenna Bushman brought Rocky back within a point. However, Jamestown would have the final say in the second set, as Aleah Zieske touted back-to-back kills to seal the set 25-20.

The third set went back and forth again, as Kaitlyn Wood's kill tied the match up at 9-9 early on. The Jimmies would flex their strength, rattling five straight points in response to take the lead in the third set. The Jimmies continued with an offensive pace that the Battlin' Bears could not keep up with, hitting .303 as a team in the final set and .267 on the day to secure the three-set victory.

Makenna Bushman, Liddia Fontaine, Ella Kincaid, and Kaitlyn Wood all tallied five kills a piece in the loss.

For Jamestown, Aleah Zieske paced the Jimmies with 18 kills on the afternoon.
