Rocky Women’s Soccer Defeats Oregon Tech 4-2 Sunday

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears tied their season high with four goals to secure their third straight victory on Sunday afternoon. 

How it Happened
Oregon Tech was the first to strike on Sunday, as Brianna Lewis broke free from the defense and secured a goal following a defensive miscommunication. 

Four minutes later, Mya Maack would equalize the score, tallying her fourth goal of the season thanks to a great drive and pass from Charlize Davis to knot the match at 1-1. Rocky would take the lead in the 30th minute, as the Battlin' Bears were granted their first penalty shot opportunity of the season. Freshman Georgia Dean would be called on to take the PK, sinking her shot into the back left corner of the goal to give the Battlin' Bears the lead. 

Oregon Tech's Kiana Jacobson would respond to tie the match again before halftime, as she snuck into the box following a throw-in and fired a shot towards the goal, which banged against the opposite side post before rebounding back to Jacobson who finished her opportunity. 

The second half was more of a defensive slugfest, as both teams combined for only six total shots. Rocky made good on their opportunities, ultimately the difference in the match. 

Rocky took advantage of a free kick just outside the penalty box following a foul on a driving Charlize Davis. Georgia Dean floated the free kick to an open Emma Lensing, who put just enough on the ball to sneak in her team-high fifth goal of the season. 

The Battlin' Bears would catch a break to add an insurance goal in the 81st inning, as Charlize Davis sent a corner kick towards the goal, and after an Owl defender missed the clear, Davis' pass clanked off the shoulder of an Oregon Tech defender and into the net for an own goal, increasing the Battlin' Bear lead and securing the victory on Wendy's Field. 

Shot attempts were close on the afternoon, as Rocky outshot the Owls 12-10. Emma Lensing totaled a game-high four shot attempts, while Mya Maack, Mila Allison, and Charlize Davis added two a piece. Goalkeeper Hannah Trumbull totaled four saves in the winning effort.
