Rocky Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to MSU Billings in Rimrock Rivalry Matchup

BILLINGS, Mont.—Makenna Bushman reached 1,400 kills in her career, and Blythe Sealey tallied her 4,000th assist, but the Battlin' Bears dropped their Tuesday night match in four sets.

How it Happened

It was all Rocky to begin in the Fortin Education Center, as the Battlin' Bears compiled a team-hitting percentage of .227 in the first set, led by five early kills from Bella Bryan

The Yellowjackets were hungry to snap their seven-game losing skid and seized the momentum, thanks to a team-hitting percentage of .233 and a trio of service aces that led them to a 25-20 second set win.

The run for MSU Billings continued into the third set, as they hopped to an early 9-2 lead. The Battlin' Bears fought back, putting together an 8-3 run of their own thanks to a pair of kills from Liddia Fontaine. The set continued to swing back and forth as the Yellowjackets extended their lead again with an 8-2 run that gave them a substantial lead in the third set. Kaitlyn Wood spiked a pair of kills that brought Rocky within fighting distance, but MSUB would eventually seal the set, 25-20.

The fourth set was the closest throughout, as Makenna Bushman spiked a kill to bring the score to 6-5 early in the set. The Yellowjackets were able to extinguish any runs the Rocky women started and would whittle away to eventually take the fourth set and the match to earn a Rimrock Rivalry season sweep.
