Rocky Men’s Soccer Blanks Warner Pacific 2-0

BILLINGS, Wash.- A pair of early goals propelled the Battlin' Bears to a 2-0 shutout over Warner Pacific on Friday afternoon.

How it Happened

Freshman Kayne White got Rocky on the board early. In the sixth minute, Espoir Mayele quickly got around a Knights defender before passing to the top of the box, where Kayne White was ready for his opportunity and capitalized to give Rocky an early 1-0 lead.

Spectacular ball movement set the Battlin' Bears up for their next goal just seven minutes later, as Paul Randello began with the play on a breakaway run, getting just outside of the box before looping a crossing pass toward the goal, where Espoir Mayele alertly tipped the ball back away from the goal and away from the keeper, finding Antonio Morales who put his head on the ball to find a streaking Igor Soares, who converted the open net goal.

Following the opening 13 minutes of play, scoring would halt for the remainder of the match, as opportunities were scarce for both sides, with only a combined seven shots in the first half overall.

Both teams attempted six shots in the second half, with a pair of shots on goal apiece, but none were able to find the net as Rocky rode out a statement home victory as the regular season winds down.

Seven different Battlin' Bears tallied shot attempts on the afternoon. Kayne White put both of his shots on goal to lead the match.

Stefan Schenk was rock solid when needed on Friday, saving all four shots he faced on the afternoon. He contributes to Rocky's third shutout victory of the season.

Scoring Summary

6' RMC - Kayne White (Ast. Espoir Mayele)
12' RMC - Igor Soares (Ast. Espoir Mayele, Antonio Morales)
