Rocky Volleyball Loses Five-Set Match Against #17 Montana Western

DILLON, Mont.—The Battlin' Bears started on fire against the No. 17-ranked Bulldogs but could not sustain their momentum as they fell in five sets in Dillon. 

How it Happened
Rocky seemingly could do no wrong through the first two sets in Dillon, tallying a hitting percentage of .280 through the first two sets with only a combined seven attack errors, taking the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22. Makenna Bushman led the charge with 10 kills through two sets. 

Unfortunately for the Battlin' Bears, the ball dropped the other way for the remainder of the match. Self-inflicted wounds played a major factor, combining for 20 attack errors through the final three sets, as the Bulldogs rushed back for a reverse sweep to take the match. 

Makenna Bushman finished the evening with 17 kills and 19 digs. Bella Bryan tallied a season-high 12 kills, Kaitlyn Wood put together ten kills and three blocks, and Blythe Sealey ended the night with 48 assists. 

Jazi Smith led the comeback charge for the Bulldogs, totaling 23 kills and 20 digs on the evening. Peyton Vogl added ten kills and six blocks.

The Battlin' Bears (12-15, 2-9 conference) will be on the road for the next two matches, visiting MSU-Northern on Wednesday evening and Montana Tech on Saturday afternoon.
